Linux Mint 20.3 (Una) will release this Christmas with Dark Apps and Other Visual Changes

The Linux Mint developers unveiled the code name and expected release date of the upcoming Linux Mint 20.3 distribution, and some of its features.

The third major update to the Linux Mint 20 series is Linux Mint 20.3, and will be dubbed as "Una". For those who don't know, the Linux Mint 20.3 will be based on the Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (Focal Fossa) operating system. Thus it will be supported with all software updates and security patches until 2025.

Linux Mint 20.3 will be available by this Christmas (2021) and will be available for all three flavors that it has (Cinnamon, MATE, and Xfce).

In the announcement, the Linux Mint team said that the upcoming version will be featured with improved themes and other visual changes.

The dark mode support will come for Celluloid, GNOME Terminal, Hypnotix, Pix, and XViewer applications even if you are using a light theme. According to the company newsletter for September 2021, Dark mode is configurable in every single application we ship dark by default. So if you don’t like Hypnotix, Celluloid, Pix, Xviewer, or GNOME Terminal to be dark, you’ll be able to disable that in each one of them.

It will also have some visual changes to accent colors in the Mint-Y theme as well.
